Lights Out! In Support of Earth Hour

Saturday we were having a dinner party at a friend's house, and we were thrilled when she reminded us that it was the day when we had to turn the lights off for an hour in support of the Earth Hour initiative, in order to show concern and raise awareness on climate change.

We have been planning to do it ourselves, but forgot about it the day, however, I must have had it deep down in my subconscious, as when leaving the house for the party, on the way out I turned the light off in the fish tank, which I normally don't do until we go to bed.

It was actually great fun - we had a very relaxing conversation around the candles. And the bonus: dessert was served while the lights were out, so nobody really saw who ate the biggest piece ;-)

Check out the WWF website for details and a spectacular slide show of images from all over the world. In a nutshell: 3,937 cities and towns around the world switched off their lights for Earth Hour in 88 countries! 288 cities in Canada participated - 3rd highest globally. Yaay!
